Mauricio Vera Arévalo earned his BSc degrees in Chemistry and in Materials Engineering from the University of Seville in 2024. His Bachelor’s thesis focused on the valorization of alginate extracted from seaweed Rugulopteryx okamurae for 3D printing applications. He subsequently moved to the University of Zaragoza, where he obtained his MSc in Nanostructured Materials for Nanotechnology Applications in 2025. His Master’s thesis involved the preparation of liquid crystal emulsions functionalized with light-responsive bent-core amphiphiles under the supervision of Dr. Alberto Concellón and Prof. Blanca Ros. He is currently a PhD student, and his research focuses on the preparation of new advanced functional materials based on liquid crystals for optical, photonic, and sensing applications.
