Mauricio Vera Arévalo earned his BSc degrees in Chemistry and in Materials Engineering from the University of Seville in 2024. His Bachelor’s thesis focused on the valorization of alginate extracted from Rugulopteryx okamurae seaweed for 3D printing applications. He then moved to the University of Zaragoza, where he obtained his MSc in Nanostructured Materials for Nanotechnology Applications in 2025. His Master’s thesis was based on the preparation of liquid crystal emulsions functionalized with light-responsive bent-core amphiphiles. He is currently a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Alberto Concellón and Prof. Blanca Ros. His research focuses on the preparation of new advanced functional materials based on liquid crystals for optical, photonic, and sensing applications.
