Barış Sezgin obtained his BSc and MSc degrees in Chemistry from Yıldız Technical University, Turkey, and his PhD in Organic Chemistry from Süleyman Demirel University in 2023. His doctoral research focused on the synthesis and characterization of azobenzene-based liquid crystals and their chiral nanocomposites. During his PhD, he also spent one year as a research scholar at the Advanced Materials and Liquid Crystal Institute at Kent State University, USA, working under the supervision of Prof. Torsten Hegmann.
He is currently a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow in the Liquid Crystals and Polymers (CLIP) group at the University of Zaragoza under the supervision of Prof. Blanca Ros. His MSCA project, PaChi-LCiMat, focuses on the development of photoactive chiral liquid crystal-inspired soft materials based on supramolecularly assembled bent-core molecules and helical nanofilament structures.
His research interests include organic synthesis, liquid crystals, photoresponsive materials, supramolecular chemistry, chiral soft materials, self-assembly, and functional advanced materials.
