Aleksandra obtained her PhD in Chemistry from the University of Belgrade, Serbia, working in the field of organic synthesis, supramolecular chemistry and crystal engineering. Her doctoral research focused on the synthesis and structural investigation of functional organic molecules, including pyridone derivatives, azo dyes and related crystalline systems.

She is currently a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow in the Liquid Crystals and Polymers Group at the University of Zaragoza. Her MSCA project, BCLC-TANGO, focuses on the design and synthesis of bent-core liquid crystalline molecules and their self-assembly into supramolecular nanostructures. Her research explores liquid crystalline behaviour, structure-property relationships and processing methods for development of smart soft nanomaterials. As part of the project, a collaboration with Blasco Group at Institute for Molecular Systems Engineering and Advanced Materials (IMSEAM), University of Heidelberg, Germany, is been caried out, where advanced 3D/4D printing approaches of responsive soft materials based on bent-core systems are being explored.

Her scientific interests include organic synthesis, liquid crystals, supramolecular materials, crystal structure analysis, soft matter and soft functional materials
